Winter camp February 2024 and Summer camp June/July 2024
Winter camp:
- German lessons, Brezel baking, art about EU (flowers and canvasses)
- Dance workshops: ballet, line dance, yoga, body percussion, TikTok dances, games
In February it was time for winter camps and with the help of Anastasia, I organized many different workshop for the kids. The overall program was divided in two activity fields – arts/crafts and dance/theater. With first group, we learned German (and in exchange also some Polish), baked “Brezeln” and prepared different art works related to the European Union and its member states for the “euroVISION” exhibition. With the second group it was more dynamic: TikTok and line dances, dance games, ballet or yoga – it definitely never got boring! These two weeks were for sure intense, but working with kids is always colorful, dynamic, creative and just a lot of fun.
Summer camp:
Just before everyone got to enjoy their well deserved summer holidays, there were four weeks of summer camps on the program. Fortunately, I could count on the support of Mila in the first and Anastasia in the last week for the activities. Like in winter, we planned many different workshops around arts and crafts in the morning as well as dance in the afternoon. The activities for the first group reached from for example German and French lessons over creating our own board games and pillows for the travels, as well as twisting beautiful bracelets and crafting stickers. For the dance workshops we played around with different dances trending on TikTok or first impressions of ballet and yoga lessons, as well as fun games the kids proposed themselves. One activity that was particularly entertaining to learn from and dance with each other was the popular “Belgijka”. These four weeks of workshops and daily work with kids were definitely a challenge, but simultaneously a great learning opportunity and an equal amount of fun. It was nice to see some kids again with whom I’d worked already in winter. Also, communicating with them was a lot easier this time since I understood a lot more (still not all…) of what the kids told me and we agreed on a nice mix of Polish and English during our time together!
